Vice President of Development + Communications

Sarah’s love for people and adventure began in the quiet little town of Mankato, Minnesota. Although an Austinite since 2008, Sarah was raised in Hawaii and later, she and her family spent a decade in Europe where her husband played professional basketball in Greece, Italy and Portugal.

Studying Public Relations and Media Studies at Chapman College in Orange, California, prepared Sarah for her professional career in journalism, where she worked in broadcast news as a producer, assignment editor and reporter in Honolulu, Hawaii. Later, Sarah moved into public relations, where she worked with the media, political candidates, international celebrities, and Hawaii businesses. Most recently, Sarah served as Director of Development for Special Olympics Texas, where she raised funds for athlete programs and used her media skills to create statewide awareness for the organization.

Sarah’s family is deeply committed to helping young people and founded a sports program where they provided opportunities for economically disadvantaged children to afford the camping experience. They also provided soccer balls for children in underserved neighborhoods through a program at their church.

In her free time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her daughters and husband. She also founded a tutoring program and is a freelance writer. Not to leave the family dogs out of the picture, Sarah enjoys running the nature trails in Austin with her two German Shepherds.
